Gears feeling crunchy? Chain skipping all over your cassette? Well follow Doddy’s tips to get your gears feeling like new. With just an inner and outer cable, some oil and basic tools you can get your drive train running smooth and get you out on the trails.

If your gears are feeling crunchy and not working properly then follow these tips to replace your gear cables and getting everything running smooth.

Remove your outer and inner cable by undoing the bolt clamp on the rear mech and removing from the shifter.

Cut your new cable to the same length as the old one and attach to your bike. Attach new ferrels on either end of the outer cable.

Spray some light oil into the shifter to lube the internals and make sure it is shifting properly.

Thread the inner cable through the shifter and the outer cable and attach to the mech.

Using the barrel adjuster on the shifter adjust your gears and you are good to go! Full SRAM tutorial coming soon.
